Modern Land Rover Defender will be manufactured in Eastern Europe
JLR is planning to manufactured its vehicles in Eastern Europe with Poland and Hungry being the likely Terminals
Jaguar Land Rover is looking at Hungry and Poland as their latest manufacturing sites for the Land Rover Defender. They also settled that the next generation will be manufacture at the new production facility. According to the report in the Financial Times, the new manufacturing facility will be built in Eastern Europe and will be based on the new aluminum architecture and will first host the Defender.
The modern Defender has been named as the project Darwin with the codename of L663. As history shows that the land rover defender has the best ever sales record and the new plant will be able to support the production line of the company.
JLR also has the plans to manufacture the land rover Discovery 5 at the similar platform. JLR boss has narrowed down their search for the factory area and the most likely place is the Gyor, near Hungary. The second base is somewhere in Poland, but this is not confirmed.
Although JLR already has three plants in UK but they are incapable to fulfil the requirements. Range Rover Evoque and the Discovery sport are based on the D8 steel platform and are presently built in Halewood plant, which is working at full quantity.
The F-Pace and the XF make are being manufactured at the Castle Bromwich plant which is the only site based on aluminum architecture. Range Rover and Jaguar XE are being construct at the Solihull plant which is also working at full volume. The range rover Discovery 5 is also based in Solihull.
According to the reports, Range Rover will be staying in UK but the Land Rover makes will be shifted to the modern production facility outside the UK.
